THE HISTORY OF WILFRED
MACDONALD, INC

Back in 1928 Wilfred MacDonald, (on the right), established his
"lawnmower" business in Weehawken New Jersey. At that time, "Mac" was
distributing the new JACOBSEN "power" reel mowers to local dealers serving the
"home-owner" market . Mac and his
brother Charles kept their business"in the black" through the great depression
(not to mention a few wars) the business kept growing through the 1950's and then...... |

In 1962, operations moved to
340 Main Avenue in Clifton, N.J. ...... Parts, service and sales operated out of
this small building.
Jacobsen was also growing,and appointed MacDonald as "direct
factory-to-user"dealer for turf and commercial (golf course) equipment..... In
1963 Jim Pelrine started with the company.....it didn't take long for Mac to know he
could leave his company in good hands with his nephew Jim.....Wilfred retired in 1966 to
become a "citizen of the world"...... his nephew incorporated the company in his
honor.......and then.......................... |
| In 1977 ,we headed west(about
2 miles) to a second building to house our new warehouse and shop operations . At the time
the company employed 14 full time employees. Three additional salesmen were added in the
early 80’s, as was the Harley Davidson golf car line. Outboard Marine's
"Cushman" line had grown into major product we were proud to represent. |

| By the end of 1991,our
distribution area grew by leaps and counties.Our new customers came from both north
and south of our home in Clifton. At that point, our product lines had grown to 20!
That means our customers have the the MOST choices of the BEST equipment from ONE source.
In 1995 we moved east (about 2 miles) to Terminal road in Lyndhurst, New Jersey (in
one frantic weekend). Our entire crew had increased to around thirty in number,working
very hard to serve our "friends"(other companies may call you
clients....accounts...numbers) we earned Jacobsen’s DISTRIBUTOR OF THE YEAR Award 7
times, and Cushman’s QUOTA BUSTER honor 17 times with many more awards in
"after-the-sale" support ! |

| Well, by 1999, we
had outgrown our location in Lyndhurst, so, we packed up yet again, and moved, (again in
one "frantic" weekend, but in reality, over one month!), 5 miles to the north
east, to our brand "new" home in South Hackensack. Our "new" 50,000
square foot building we consider, "state of the art" and it truly is
"Our" building! With larger parts and service departments, plus more warehouse
space, we expect to provide exceptional service to our customer base as we move into the
new millenium! Always working to provide the service you demand, our company strives to be
the BEST customer support team in the area! |
